This workshop led by the GEO Indigenous Alliance will present recommendations for working with Indigenous communities. Building long-term relationships with Indigenous communities is the foundation upon which educational programs, research collaborations, and other initiatives must be jointly developed. This workshop will define best practices in approach and process to establish and sustain effective collaborations with Indigenous communities that respect sovereignty and self-determination and how Indigenous Knowledge Systems can be incorporated into our understanding of science. These practices will have a lasting impact on the geospatial community in terms of equity, diversity, and inclusion.
